after i saw the movie “Alice in Wonderland” in 3D , i wanted to make a review on it! but then i realized i haven’t read the books so i might just sound stupid (especially to the fans of Alice) ‘coz i have no idea what i’m blabbing about… but coming from just a regular curious moviegoer, i really enjoyed the film!
i’ve been looking forward to this movie ever since i saw the teaser trailer. and knowing that Tim Burton and Johnny Depp will collaborate again got me even more excited! so i made sure i won’t miss it.
aside from Johnny Depp as Mad Hatter, other familiar faces (and voices) can be seen (or heard ).
Helena Bonham Carter plays the Red Queen. she was exceptional as Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter and was also seen in Sweeney Todd as Mrs. Lovett; and as expected, did another great performance as the villain in this film.
the White Queen was played by Anne Hathaway, and to tell you honestly, i didn’t really get her acting. i was confused if it was meant to be funny or what. but i still love her nevertheless. she’s a great actress… just not so much in this movie.
and of course, who wouldn’t be able to recognize Professor Snape’s voice? this time, as a Blue Caterpillar. i just love that unique tone that Alan Rickman has! he also plays Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd.
joining in the cast of characters are Crispin Glover(George McFly from Back to the Future and the “thin man” from Charlie’s Angels) as the Knave of Hearts and Timothy Spall(Peter Pettigrew from Harry Potter; Nathaniel from Enchanted and Beadle Bamford from Sweeney Todd) as Bayardthe talking dog.
excellent line up, i must say… and Mia Wasikowska make a wonderful and authentic Alice!
the movie was really entertaining. great acting from great actors. i love the visuals, the make up and the wardrobe! (especially Alice’s red dress)
CLICK HERE for an awesome review by Angela Davis! i totally agree with pretty much everything she said. (but on those parts where she talks about the books, i can neither agree nor disagree. haven’t read them ) after reading her review, it made me wanna buy those books!
haha!! before you get all mad at me, i don’t literally hate “THAT” day… the title of this post is just inspired by Jessica Biel’s character in the movie, “Valentine’s Day”
so, what is up with February 14???
well, it comes every year whether you like it or not..
to all those lovebirds, it’s a perfect day to get all mushy and do crazy stuff just to show the world how much they love each other.. (i think i just vomited in my mouth! hehe)
this year, it’s also a special celebration for the Chinese community. (but that’s not what this post is about)
while, to some (myself included)… it’s just a plain ordinary boring day!!!
yesterday, i had a 5 hour break in school, so i thought i’d go to the mall and watch a movie… i’m guessing you already know what i decided to go see. yep!!! “Valentine’s Day” LOL!
i didn’t really expect much from the movie.. the main reason why i really wanted to watch it was because it was star-studded! Jennifer Garner, Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba, Anne Hathaway, Julia Roberts, Emma Roberts, Queen Latifah, Taylor Swift, Taylor Lautner, Jamie Foxx, George Lopez, Bradley Cooper, plus! i get to see Grey’s Anatomy’s Patrick “McDreamy” Dempsey and Eric “McSteamy” Dane and my one and only “Ashton Kutcher”!!
in fairness, i really enjoyed it!! i thought it was going to be a little boring, but i didn’t get bored at all! hehehe.. it was cute, fun, cheesy and kind of romantic.
the movie is just mainly about completely different people who are somehow interconnected and how they all spent their valentine’s day…
i loved the different story lines of the characters. and i enjoyed the annual “i HATE valentine’s day dinner” that Jessica Biel’s character had. and the scene where Jennifer Garner smashed the big heart with a baseball bat was priceless..
to those teens who want to watch the movie because of TayTay (taylor swift and taylor launter), well, don’t expect much because their characters only have small roles.. but they were entertaining nevertheless. they represent “young love”, full of promise, full of hope, ignorant of reality.. hahaha!!
you can catch the trailer below!
the movie also features a new song from Taylor Swift called “Today Was A Fairytale”
although i’m labless dis balentayn’s day… hehehe.. i still enjoy a cheesy romantic comedy.
and i’d love to hear how you spend your valentine’s day ‘coz i’m pretty sure mine would be boring.
HAPPY SINGLE’s AWARENESS DAY!!! mabuhay ang mga SINGLE at ang mga TAKEN……for granted.. hahaha!!
